Description

Baillie Lumber Co, Inc. has multiple openings for internships at our sawmills/yards in NYS, including Allegany, Davenport, Smyrna, Boonville, Cayuta, Owego and Nineveh. Sites are large concentration yards and or saw mills responsible for kiln drying hardwood lumber or milling logs. The internship would consist of working and learning multiple jobs within the plant.  The internship is paid and would be a customizable schedule fitting around your school work.

Responsibilities:

• Kiln Operator schedule and assisting him with his daily responsibility
• Work with Lumber Inspector to learn how to grade lumber
• Production operations through various jobs to learn manufacturing process
• Train in wood yard activities and procedures
• Develop understanding of preventive maintenance of machine center
• Participate in safety committee meetings and safety talks

Requires personal protective equipment be worn at all times:

• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection
• Head protection
• Steel toed work boots
