Each year, we strive to attract and retain talented and diverse college students through our
Summer College Internship Program.
“We provide interns with practical experience in all areas of our organization and offer
successful participants professional career opportunities following graduation,” stated Nikki
Burroughs, talent outreach coordinator in Human Resources.
Our 10 week Summer College Internship Program offers college students paid internships. Each
year, over 60 interns are hired in various departments from the first week of June to the second
week in August. The departments of Talent Acquisition and Learning and Organization
Development have partnered to provide practical and hands-on training in areas such as, resume
writing, interviewing skills, team building, networking, and the art of communication. Interns
also attend Toastmasters meetings to enhance their public speaking skills.
We are constantly working to improve our program to make it the greatest experience an intern
could have. “The experience I had interning at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield was excellent! I
met many friendly faces and was given meaningful work with which to develop my skills. Being
a student, I feel it's important to get out of the classroom and get a taste of what the work force is
